When we struggle with insecure attachment, it is easy to fall into a habit of doubting our self-worth and slipping into relying on our partners or external sources for validation.


If you’re on my email list, then you’re someone who has probably realized that this is a negative cycle, and are interested in turning that around.


It’s likely that you have heard of affirmations before, which are positive statements that try to offer a higher vibration than the negative self talk that we often find ourselves getting caught in.


Unfortunately, for many individuals that attempt affirmations, research shows that it can actually increase cortisol levels in the brain, which are stress chemicals.


And that is because if you attempt to declare something you don’t really believe, you are going to create higher levels of inner conflict.


Basically, you try to say something positive like, “I am fully capable and deserving and believe the Universe has my back.”


And the words sound good in the moment because it is a true statement, but then there will be a little voice in the back of your head that replies, “Oh yeah? What a crock. take a look around!”


Now, affirmations can be very powerful!


But only if they are done right.
